HISPA will present these awards at its Sixth Annual Three Kings Banquet on January 9th at the Hilton Woodbridge in Iselin, NJ.
Kurt M. Landgraf, who on December 31st will complete 13 years as President and CEO of Princeton-based ETS, will receive HISPA’s Champion of the Year award. Landgraf is credited for building ETS into the world’s leading educational research and assessment organization and for strengthening its mission to advance quality and equity in education worldwide. He will deliver the keynote address.
Merck’s Hispanic Employee Business Resource Group, Kenilworth Chapter Leader, Joseph Tulipani, will receive HISPA’s Role Model of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding service. AT&T will receive the Sponsor of the Year award for their outstanding support of HISPA’s mission, Role Model Program, Youth Conferences and the volunteerism of their Employee Resource Group, HACEMOS.
The Three Kings (the three Wise Men) banquet coincides with the traditional gift-giving period of the Nativity in Spanish-speaking and other lands. HISPA selected this theme to thank those whose gifts of support and volunteerism assure the success of its programs.
The event gathers some 300 corporate, nonprofit, governmental, education and other leaders. The evening celebrates the more than 1,000 Latino professionals who tell their stories to middle school students in New Jersey, New York City and San Antonio, TX, inspiring them to stay in school, graduate and go on to higher education.
Companies joining the celebration as banquet sponsors include: Accenture, Aramark, AT&T, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Investors Bank, Merck, and Verizon and as annual partners: Comcast, ETS and Southwest Airlines(R), HISPA 2013 Official Airline Partner.
“We are very proud to recognize outstanding leaders at our Sixth Three Kings Banquet and share the success of our programs,” says Dr. Ivonne Díaz-Claisse, founder and president of HISPA. “The honorees exemplify the dedication and contributions of our supporters and so many volunteers who go into schools to share, inspire and transform.”
Now in its sixth year, HISPA operates its Role Model Programs throughout New Jersey, in New York City and in San Antonio, Texas. “New research shows that our programs move the needle significantly in terms of strengthening student attitudes about going on to higher education," says Yvonne Shepard, Chair of the Board. “Our success speaks for itself. We are so grateful to so many for enabling our work and hope others will join us.”
