What is sustainability? For many, it’s a very personal definition. During the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to observe employees take action to improve their communities by doing one thing. I’ve learned that for my colleagues, sustainability isn’t something that’s limited to corporate initiatives and decisions made in boardrooms. It’s often a selfless act that they do for a better future for themselves and others.

As 2014 comes to a close and we enter the season of giving, I am excited to celebrate four employees who stand out from the crowd in their efforts to make a positive difference through AT&T’s Do One Thing (DOT) movement.  DOT invites employees to take a simple, measurable action to benefit the world around them. These four Champions of DOT exemplify the mission of DOT and inspire their colleagues and communities to make an impact as well.

To recognize the leadership of these four employees, each Champion of DOT selected a non-profit to receive a $2,500 contribution from the company. Take a minute to watch the amazing ways they are making their communities better…and perhaps you too will be inspired to Do One Thing in your world!

  • Jeanelly Concepcion: #Trainiacs Saving Trees

  • Matt Langer: Langer’s Wranglers

  • Mohammad Farshori: Each One Reach One

What is DOT? Through AT&T’s Do One Thing (DOT) movement, employees are taking measurable, regular actions that improve themselves, their community and/or the company. DOTs can be anything from committing to turn off the water while brushing your teeth, volunteering at a local animal shelter or engaging your entire office business unit to use less paper. DOT embraces and includes employees at all levels around the world! Small actions for good can add up to a big, positive change when people work together. Our employees are demonstrating this every day through Do One Thing (DOT).
