Last month, the Colombian national government, through the Ministry Of National Education, recognized the work of DIRECTV Colombia for our contributions as an ally for education in the country. This award – together with our two prior recognitions by the Colombian British Chamber of Commerce and Global Pacto – United Nations – further acknowledges our social commitment to the communities where we live and work.

Through our 2015 acquisition of DIRECTV, AT&T became the leading pay-television company operating in Latin America. DIRECTV is committed to community enrichment by means of its innovative services and technology. Through the various programs that comprise Generación DIRECTV we support education, disaster relief, and community outreach activities. Generación DIRECTV’s initiatives use technology, services, branding, and most importantly – people – to help enact social change in underserved areas of the region for the ultimate benefit of our communities.

Together, with the Ministry of National Education, we implemented ESCUELA+ using our satellite technology. ESCUELA+ strives to support, complement and enhance classroom lessons of primary and secondary level schools using DIRECTV’s technology by means of its DIRECTV Plus™ receiver and educational content. It complements the Kioscos Vive Digital, from the Ministry of Information Technologies And Communications, that allows communities to access the Internet and receive free online trainings in information and communications technology.
