Recall the last time you discovered a new (or new to you) television show and added it to your DVR. Chances are, you asked your friends if they were also following the series. And if they were, you most likely bonded over dramatic plot lines or funny quotes. Imagine using social media to share links to upcoming shows you think they would also enjoy watching.
Watercooler is an idea submitted through AT&T’s employee crowdsourcing tool, The Innovation Pipeline (TIP). The technology allows U-verse customers to share website links to future TV programs on your social channels. Friends following U-verse customers can simply click on these links to set up recordings.
Watercooler is designed to be a new feature of U-verse SOCIAL. The free mobile application provides one-touch access to your favorite shows and channels. You can access Watercooler when you’re in a U-verse home with U-verse Wi-Fi. Additional capabilities within U-verse SOCIAL include:
- Saving your favorite shows or channels
- Accessing simple remote control features of U-verse TV
- Finding the show or movie you want to watch with either text or voice search
There are many future possibilities for Watercooler. Users could watch content live on OnDemand, live-streaming, live on TV or DVR. Or, they could record a single episode or TV series.
AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet service is required to connect a qualifying device to an AT&T U-verse receiver.
