AT&T's Network Boosted for The Pope’s First Visit to U.S.
The Pope is on American soil this week and AT&T is working hard to prepare the network. As millions of people make the pilgrimage to see him, AT&T wants to ensure that they can share their pictures with friends and family, as well as navigate the crowds with their smartphone in hand.
To boost coverage in the Philadelphia area, AT&T deployed two Cell on Wheels (COWs), enhanced rooftop cell sites, increased cellular capacity, and joined a new Distributed Antenna System. These efforts are part of a $23 million investment to help provide a reliable overall network experience.
AT&T also deployed COWs for the Pope’s stops in Washington D.C. and New York City.
