It was a night of firsts this past Tuesday.

When Mexico faced off against Argentina at AT&T Stadium on Sept. 8 in Arlington, Texas, it was the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa. It was also the first time fans in Texas got to witness a Mexico vs. Argentina friendly in their home state.

Tens of thousands of soccer fans gathered at AT&T Stadium to support the Mexican National Team. With our mobile network, fans didn’t have to worry about being the last one to post about a great performance. When their favorite players were showing their skills on the field, our customers didn’t miss a beat.

To keep up with the crowd, AT&T used a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to keep people connected at the soccer stadium. The DAS boosts network capacity, allowing customers to stay connected.

Here’s what we saw from our customers at the stadium:

  • More than 781GB* crossed our in-venue mobile network.
  • That’s like 2.2M+* photos shared on social media.

*All data is from only AT&T customers using the venue-specific network during the soccer match on September 8 at AT&T Stadium.
