I’m a firm believer that opportunities are often disguised as obstacles.  What may look like an obstacle or a challenge often contains hidden opportunities. 

I learned that lesson early in life during turbulent times:  the Cuban Revolution.

After my parents made the difficult decision to leave Cuba for the U.S., they had to make an even more difficult decision at the Havana Airport as the family was getting ready to board the plane.

I was 10 years old that July day of 1961 but I remember the militiaman’s words as if he had said them only yesterday.  

"Only the boy can go."

Five words that changed my life forever.
