The data we saw on our mobile network showed traffic was up in these tight games as fans waited for the final result on pins and needles. Below are the top performing venues from the past week as well as a few interesting trends we noticed:

Close Calls and Upsets Give Fans Something to Tweet About

  • In pro football, the top five venues by data usage hosted some real nail-biters. 80% of these games were decided by 6 points or fewer and two of the games went to overtime, with the home team prevailing in each contest.
  • In comparison, 70% of the games at the other ten pro venues that hosted games last week were decided by 7 points or more and none of these games went to overtime.
  • At the college level, all of the top five venues for data usage were home to a team currently ranked in the polls. Both teams playing were ranked in two of these games.
  • Two out of the five games were decided in the last 60 seconds and in one game fans stormed the field following the home team’s victory.
  • Two out of the five games were upsets, in which the higher ranked team lost.
