$250K Donation to Community Organizations Committed to Building a Future of Opportunity and Success in NOLA East

AT&T has a long-standing commitment to the vitality of New Orleans, and through our new initiative – Believe New OrleansSM – the men and women of AT&T in New Orleans are working with community leaders and organizations to impact historic New Orleans East, as we combat poverty and support residents who are pursuing greater opportunities.

AT&T leaders launched the initiative with a $250K check shared among organizations that reflect our passion for – and commitment to – the future of New Orleans East.

“It’s exciting when business and community organizations come together with the shared goal of helping great communities such as New Orleans East thrive,” said Gov. John Bel Edwards. “New Orleans East has endured many challenges over the years, yet it remains strong because of the resilience of the people. I congratulate everyone for their commitment to this collaboration and the future of this community.”

An extension of AT&T BelievesSM, a larger company-wide initiative designed to create positive change in local communities, Believe New Orleans℠ is connecting AT&T employees to volunteer opportunities with organizations like STEM NOLA, East NOLA Business Development District and their Clean Sweep NOLA initiative, New Orleans Recreational Development Foundation, the New Orleans Business Alliance, among others.

“While the impact of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans East is still evident even 14 years later, so too is the strength and the resilience of the generations of New Orleanians who built this community,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “We are proud to stand with our community partners and with AT&T to create opportunities in the East and to build an inclusive future for all our residents.”

Collaborating with area non-profits and organizations, AT&T is focused on improving skills development and academic achievement; inspiring entrepreneurship and innovation; and neighborhood beautification.

“We believe in the Promise of New Orleans East,” said Sonia Perez, president of AT&T Southern States. “The people of New Orleans East are a tremendous influence on the history, the character, and the culture of this city, and we Believe that they have the talent and the drive to spur greater successes across New Orleans.”

By working with organizations focused on the community’s needs, AT&T employees will engage in efforts to create a better future full of opportunity and achievement in the community, while highlighting the strengths of the neighborhoods across New Orleans East.
