All-Star Activities Include AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, Part of TNT’s State Farm Saturday Night

New Camera will Give Fans a Bird’s-Eye View of the Action on the Court

Local Charlotte Artist Matt Stevens’ Work Featured in AT&T Space at Epicentre during NBA Crossover

Tipping off this week as the first step in a new, multi-year marketing partnership agreement with the NBA, AT&T is bringing fans closer to the action of NBA All-Star with a live-streamed concert featuring Grammy-nominated artist Janelle Monáe. As part of the NBA Crossover activities taking place in Charlotte, AT&T THANKS® customers and fans will witness Monáe’s rooftop performance in person live starting at 5:30 p.m. ET prior to Sunday night’s NBA All-Star Game. Following the huge success of AT&T’s Super Saturday Night concert live stream, AT&T will live stream Monáe’s performance for fans across Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

“We’re going to have a great time together – wherever you are,” said Monáe, the talented singer songwriter, performer, producer, activist and actress. “I’ve been on a lot of stages around the world this year, and I’m loving the chance to have a more intimate performance that can connect with thousands of you at the same time, thanks to AT&T.”

“Like the NBA, we live at the intersection of technology, sports and entertainment, and we can’t wait to delight fans in Charlotte and beyond during NBA All-Star,” said Mark Wright, AT&T Vice President of Sponsorships and Media. “Our involvement this week is just a taste of what’s to come in the months ahead with our NBA partnership, from advertising and marquee moments like the start of the WNBA and NBA 2K League seasons, to working with NBA Cares to make a difference in communities – and more.”

As part of an ongoing commitment to bring fans closer to the sport they love, AT&T gives fans watching on TNT a bird’s-eye view of some of the action on-the court with the addition of a new camera.

Fans attending NBA Crossover in Charlotte – a festival of music, art, fashion and innovation – can stop by AT&T’s first-floor space at Epicentre to capture a moment before a custom-designed mural by local Charlotte artist Matt Stevens. AT&T commissioned Matt to create the mural used in the backdrop of the AT&T space, giving him a chance to showcase his talent and the city of Charlotte.

“It’s a thrill to see the NBA All Star come to my hometown of Charlotte, and to be part of the event through my art makes it extra special,” said Stevens. Following this week’s events, the mural will be donated to a yet-to-be-announced local community organization.

During the 68th annual NBA All-Star, AT&T is on the side of all basketball fans as a proud title partner of the AT&T Slam Dunk contest Saturday night on TNT, and the presenting partner of NBA All-Star Practice and NBA All-Star Media Day on Saturday. In addition to the live stream of the AT&T Pregame Concert on Sunday night, fans can follow #ATTvip on Twitter and Instagram to catch arrivals on the AT&T Blue Carpet as Sunday night before the NBA All-Star Game starts at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.

This week is the first time that AT&T is activating under its new, wide-ranging marketing agreement that allows the NBA and AT&T to develop marquee moments, events, community involvement opportunities and technology innovations for fans across the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), NBA G League, NBA 2K League and USA Basketball.
