St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 3, 2014 — AT&T* today confirmed it will expand its ultra-fast AT&T GigaPower network to the City of St. Louis. The all-fiber network will bring symmetrical upload and download broadband speeds up to 1 gigabit per second, and AT&T’s most advanced TV services to consumers and small businesses.

AT&T is deploying additional fiber and electronics to the existing network in St. Louis to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast broadband.  The network enhancements will enable residential and small business customers to have access to the fastest Internet speeds available from AT&T.**

Local residents and small businesses on the AT&T GigaPower network will also experience cutting-edge TV services with the ability to watch and record five simultaneous HD streams, and its largest capacity DVR with one terabyte of storage.

“As a city that prides itself on creating a favorable environment for investment and innovation, I am happy to see AT&T bringing its ultra-high speed fiber network to the City of St. Louis,” said Mayor Francis Slay. “This is a great opportunity for our residents, businesses and visitors, who all stand to benefit from this new service.”

“The St. Louis region is one of the fastest growing tech hubs in the United States and a hotbed for entrepreneurial activity.  U-verse with AT&T GigaPower service will complement this engine of economic growth and help pave the way for future opportunities,” stated Slay.

“For more than 136 years, AT&T has been committed to bringing the latest technology to St. Louis, and the deployment of our ultra-fast U-verse with AT&T GigaPower is just the latest example of our determination to connect consumers and businesses to their future,” said John Sondag, president of AT&T Missouri.

“This effort would not be possible without the cooperation and support of Mayor Slay and his administration,” continued Sondag.  “By creating a climate that attracts infrastructure investment and reduces deployment barriers, city leaders and smart public policies play a key role in driving investments like the AT&T GigaPower network. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the City of St. Louis as we prepare to build out this service.”

Specific locations of availability and pricing for the St. Louis market will be announced at a later date.

On April 21, 2014, AT&T announced a major initiative to expand its ultra-fast AT&T GigaPower fiber network to up to 100 candidate cities and municipalities across 25 markets nationwide.  As part of that announcement, AT&T said it is also considering other cities in the St. Louis metropolitan area – Chesterfield, Edwardsville, Florissant and Granite City as candidates for the service.

Additionally, AT&T has committed that upon approval of its proposed acquisition of DIRECTV, the company will expand the AT&T GigaPower network to an additional 2 million customer locations. All of these 2 million locations are over and above what the company announced in April.
