NEW YORK, May 27, 2014 -- Visitors to New York City’s popular High Line can now stay connected with free AT&T* Wi-Fi service between 14th and 16th Streets. The elevated park on the west side of Manhattan becomes the twenty-first New York City park to offer free connections as part of AT&T’s Wi-Fi in the Parks initiative. Launched three years ago, Wi-Fi in the Parks allows all smartphone and tablet users regardless of carrier to connect to the AT&T Wi-Fi network. Park visitors averaged 10,000 connections per day in 2013 and have made 9.5 million connections since the initiative began.

“AT&T is always looking for innovative ways to keep New Yorkers connected and we are excited that visitors to one of the City’s most popular parks destinations will now be able to take advantage of this service,” said Marissa Shorenstein, AT&T’s New York State President. “The popularity of Wi-Fi in the Parks has exceeded our expectations and we will continue to look for new opportunities to meet the demands of our customers and all New Yorkers.”

“We want everyone who comes to the High Line to have an experience that is meaningful,” said Joshua David, Co-founder and President of Friends of the High Line. “By adding this new Wi-Fi service to our wide range of programs and amenities, we have one more way of ensuring that our visitors get a fresh perspective on New York City when they come to the High Line.”
