Technomic Whitepaper Says Entertainment Technology and Connectivity is Shaping the Restaurant and Convenience Store Experience

Technomic, a solution provider in food industry research, developed a whitepaper for AT&T1 outlining, “How Entertainment Technology is Shaping the Restaurant Experience.”

The whitepaper showcases the value of TV and Wi-Fi connectivity as a part of the restaurant experience for a variety of customers. Technology can streamline operations and drive sales in casual dining, fast casual, quick service restaurants and convenience stores.

Key findings:

  • 76% of 25-34 year olds say dining out is one of the top ways they spend time with friends.
  • TV continues to be one of the most crucial forms of entertainment at casual dining restaurants driving traffic, delighting guests and building loyalty.
  • The newest and fastest growing fast casuals are prioritizing the presence of HDTVs and free Wi-Fi.
  • 63% of casual dining customers, both boomers and millennials, prefer access to sports programming.
  • 47% of millennials say free Wi-Fi helps create good value at food service locations.
  • Convenience stores are looking to boost their dining programs. TV and Wi-Fi will be a key feature to keep customers engaged.
