We have a venue-specific Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in place at each arena for the pro basketball conference championship round of the playoffs.

Here’s what we saw from our customers using the DAS network at these arenas:

  • Total data usage from all conference championship round playoff games at these four arenas was 852GB. 852GB is equal to more than 2.4M social media posts with photos.
  • Total data usage from the first three rounds of playoff games combined at 14 different arenas is 7.9TB. 7.9TB is equal to more than 22.7M social media posts with photos.
  • The average data usage per game across the four venues during the conference championship round was 92GB.

Round 2

Data is flying up and down the court during this year’s pro basketball playoffs. It’s the time of year that we typically see numbers go up on our data scoreboard as fans use our mobile network to share the most exciting moments on and off the ice via their mobile devices.

Here’s what we saw from our customers using the DAS network at these arenas:

  • Total data usage from all second round playoff games at these eight arenas was 2.9TB. 2.9TB is equal to more than 8.3M social media posts with photos.
  • Total data usage from the first two rounds of playoff games combined at 14 different arenas is 7.1TB. 7.1TB is equal to more than 20.3M social media posts with photos.
  • The average data usage per game across the eight venues during the second round was 118GB.

Round 1

During the playoffs, we see numbers go up on our data scoreboard as fans use our mobile network.

All year long, our network team fine tunes its game plan. We had a venue-specific Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in place at 13 of the 15 U.S. pro basketball venues this year.

Here’s what we saw in the first round:

  • Total data usage from all first round playoff games at these 13 arenas was 4.1TB. 4.1TB is equal to more than 12M social media posts with photos.
  • The average data usage per game across the 13 venues during the first round was 123GB.
  • Across all 13 arenas, data usage increased by 46% during the first round of the playoffs compared to the average game in March.
