This has been a momentous year for AT&T. In March, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the first phone call. And on Sept. 4, AT&T marks 125 years listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) – a milestone that reflects the enduring strength of our business.
NYSE’s founding dates back to the 1700s, and by the time we were listed in 1901, hundreds of previously listed companies had already come and gone. AT&T remains the only company from the group listed in 1901 still trading on the exchange – ranking us among NYSE’s longest-listed companies. That distinction is only possible because, for generations, we’ve evolved how we operate, continuously building the connectivity infrastructure that has moved America forward.

When AT&T listed on NYSE, the company was leading a new era of communications for the country, moving from local telephone service to the beginnings of a nationwide network. Listing provided AT&T with access to the capital needed to scale the network, making it more than a financial milestone. It helped establish the foundation for AT&T’s ongoing investments in infrastructure and innovation that have since driven our long-term growth and transformation.
Today, that same commitment to investing in America’s communications infrastructure continues to shape our strategy.
Congratulations to AT&T on 125 years of listing on the New York Stock Exchange. From pioneering communications technology to building the nation's leading fiber network and advancing 5G, AT&T has always embodied the kind of long-term vision and innovation that makes the NYSE community so strong. It has been a remarkable 125 years and here’s to the next chapter together.”
— NYSE Group President Lynn Martin
After years of industry-leading investments, we’ve built America’s largest fiber and wireless network. Our investments in fiber, 5G, and converged connectivity are paying off, driving stronger performance across our business.
With over 38 million total fiber locations reached today on our path to get to 60 million-plus by the end of 2030, we’re building the infrastructure needed to support the growing connectivity demands of the future. We’re also investing in the products customers want, evolving how we go to market with innovative new plans that deliver simplicity, transparent value, and the convenience of converged connectivity.
Our relationship with the Exchange also continues to evolve alongside our business. Last year, we decided to dual list and become a founding member of NYSE Texas. This decision builds on our deep history with the Exchange and further strengthens our commitment to our home state of Texas. As we look ahead, we’re grateful to the millions of customers and shareholders that have put their confidence in AT&T. We intend to honor that confidence by continuing to transform our business. As the world changes, so will we – and we’re well positioned to once again lead the next era of communications.
