AT&T Recognized for Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for U.S. NextGen 9-1-1 Services
Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) — the county’s 9-1-1 Center and the largest public safety answering point (PSAP) in Virginia — has transitioned to AT&T ESINet, a highly adaptable advanced 9-1-1 platform. For residents and visitors to the National Capital Region, NG9-1-1 will allow better call routing accuracy and reduced response times.
AT&T ESInet is built on AT&T’s industry-leading network. The IP-based call routing service uses i3 standards from the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) to modernize decades-old 9-1-1 infrastructure. And in today’s mobile environment, that’s crucial.
The new network in Fairfax County supports traditional 9-1-1 operations while providing the secure foundation that it needs to support citizens’ future 9-1-1 needs. For example, NG9-1-1 allows for a richer stream of media such as pictures and streaming media to be available to 9-1-1 in the future, which can lead to better public safety responses.
Every second counts with 9-1-1 and it’s important to have the right technology to ensure that citizens get the help they need. With geo-spatial routing, Fairfax County can now adjust its service boundaries to accommodate planned special events, festivals or unforeseen situations. NG9-1-1 also improves 9-1-1’s resiliency, flexibility and adaptability in the face of natural disasters and network outages. And when calls spike, AT&T ESInet can automatically distribute calls to neighboring PSAPs, which can lead to improved 911 call management. This will make it easier for PSAPs to be more responsive to emergencies.
We’re proud to support Fairfax County and its citizens in providing advanced technologies to help this growing area improve the call experience for those in need.
In the age of the COVID-19 pandemic the need to further improve 911 capabilities has become more apparent. Cities, counties and states around the country are deploying AT&T NG9-1-1 solutions to better support and safeguard their citizens. In fact, AT&T has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the NG9-1-1 market leader for earning 30.6 percent U.S. market share in their annual syndicated NG9-1-1 study.
According to the report, “AT&T’s NG9-1-1 solution equips PSAPs with the tools to transform the way citizens and public safety entities report, react, and respond to emergency situations, ultimately, leading to safer, smarter and stronger communities.”
AT&T is a leader in first responder connectivity. We’ve been enabling and innovating public safety communications for more than 140 years to help first responders focus on what matters most: protecting communities and saving lives.
