I never take for granted how special it is to play for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. We’ve accomplished some amazing things, and our fans have been with us every step of the way.
I’ll never forget the 2012 Olympic Games in London. It was my first Olympics, and I scored the game-winning goal. That game got us into the final match to compete for a gold medal. After winning that game against Japan, they placed the gold medal around my neck as the national anthem played. It’s a moment I’ll always remember.
Now we’re getting ready for Rio. AT&T is helping me connect with the awesome fans who are always cheering us on. Starting with the 100 Day Countdown Event today in New York City’s Times Square, AT&T is heading out on the Road to Rio Tour. At stops along the way, AT&T is mobilizing fans and transforming them into our teammates, or in this case, fanmates.
Want to be an #ATTfanmate? It’s simple. At a tour site, stop by the AT&T tent and sign up to join the team. It’ll connect you with me and my teammates – Gabby Douglas, Matt Grevers and Paralympian Alana Nichols. Don’t forget to share your photo on social media letting everyone know. Just use #ATTfanmate! As a thank you, we’ll send you an email with special video messages about how we’re preparing for Rio.
If you can visit a tour stop, check out the Mobile Device Wall. You’ll see cool Team USA content and learn about the DIRECTV app while you’re there! In Times Square today, you’ll also be able to see The Band Perry on the AT&T-branded stage. We’ll have other great entertainment at our stops in Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, Chicago and Venice, Calif. as well.
I can’t wait to connect with all of you as we prepare to bring our 4th straight gold medal home from Rio. Wish us luck!
