AT&T Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
A letter from Vince Torres, Senior Vice President, Broadband and Voice Products:
To me, Hispanic Heritage Month (#HHM) is a time to shine a light on our diverse workforce. We are 255,000 strong, from all walks of life, and our diversity is what fuels our innovation.
At AT&T, nearly 65,000 Hispanics or Latinos/LatinX make up a critical part of our employee base. Their passion, their talent and their dedication help us move the company forward.
I’m proud to say that during the past five years, AT&T and our employees have contributed more than $156 million to organizations and projects that strengthen the Hispanic community. This month we joined other corporations by signing The Hispanic Promise, which is the first-of-its-kind national pledge to hire, promote, retain and celebrate Hispanics in the workplace. Through HACEMOS, our Latino leadership group, we provide educational opportunities for our youth. In the last year we have awarded nearly $370,000 in scholarships and more than $3 million since 1998.
As a company, we can also say with pride that:
· We offer bilingual representatives in more than 750 AT&T retail stores.
· We offer 95 channels on DIRECTV and U-Verse that serve Spanish-speaking audiences.
· We do business with diverse suppliers, spending about $15 billion.
Ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month, we came up with a saying to rally our people together – “A Ti y a Ti”, a play on A-T-&-T that encapsulates our ongoing support for the Hispanic community. Be on the lookout for online videos where we will passionately bring “A Ti y a Ti” to life. Follow the journey at #atiyati, #att and www.att.com/atiyati.
Meanwhile, happy Hispanic Heritage Month a ti y a ti!
