Series renewal follows strong performance on DIRECTV’s linear and digital platforms

Great audience results and critical acclaim in Latin America

DIRECTV Latin America and Mediapro Group announced today that season two of Todo por el Juego will premiere in October 2019 on DIRECTV Latin America’s exclusive entertainment channel, OnDIRECTV. The channel’s #1 series during the premiere airing of its episodes, is a DIRECTV Original and also available via DIRECTV’s TV Everywhere platforms and on the DIRECTV 4K Ultra HD channel.

The second season comes after the series posted big numbers on DIRECTV’s outlets and in Mexico and after being recently released by Movistar in Spain.

Co-produced by MEDIAPRO Group and DIRECTV Latin America, the series is based on the novel written by Javier Tebas and Pedro Torrens, El Fútbol no es Así. Tebas is the President of Spain’s national sports association La Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (National Professional Football League), commonly LaLiga.

Todo por el Juego reveals the dark side of a fictionalized team in Spain where politics, passion and corruption play as big a role as the game on the field.  The scope of international intrigue expanded with key characters and storylines hailing from Americas making the second season of the series a content with an extraordinary international appeal.  As Spanish leading newspaper EL PAIS noted, “futbol is a business that unleashes passions and billions around the world and, therefore, stimulates greed…that’s Todo por el Juego.”

Showrunner/Director Daniel Calparsoro (“Cien años de perdón”, “Salto al vacío”, “A ciegas”, “Pasajes”, “Guerreros”) returns at the helm as do stars Roberto Enriquez (Mariano Hidalgo) and Patricia Vico (Nuria Ballesteros).  New characters from Argentina, Mexico and the United States, among other countries, will be introduced to what promises to be another riveting season.

Imagina International Sales will distribute the second season of the series.
