The Big Game is coming to the Big Apple this year and AT&T is ready to handle the increased volumes of network traffic that are expected in New York and New Jersey. AT&T has enhanced its voice and data network capacity to offer customers a more robust mobile network experience during the Big Game. Enhancements include:

  • Brand new DAS at the stadium that is more than triple the capacity of the original DAS used by AT&T during the 2013 regular football season. The new DAS features more than 500 antennas hidden throughout the stadium bowl and more than 6.4 miles of cable.
  • Two Cells on Wheels (COWs) will be deployed in the parking lots that serve the stadium to handle the influx of wireless demand on game day. In Midtown Manhattan, AT&T has deployed seven COWs to provide additional coverage/capacity for fans attending football-related events.
  • AT&T has also built a brand new cell site at the northern end of Times Square, to handle the increased wireless needs of the more than 270,000 people expected to attend events taking place each day.
  • AT&T also provides access to Wi-Fi hotspots and Wi-Fi Hot Zones in NYC that will help fans stay connected. Once in these areas, AT&T customers will be able to connect to the Wi-Fi network, free of charge.
