The Waffle House shooting. The mass shooting in Las Vegas. What these 2 horrific events have in common, aside from so much senseless violence and death, is that an AT&T employee who was there rushed forward to save others’ lives.

For their heroism, James Shaw, the Waffle House hero, and Dustin Jones, who helped save dozens in Las Vegas, each were awarded our company’s highest honor: A Gold Vail Award. Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson presented the awards Monday.

The Gold Vail Award is a rare and prestigious recognition for AT&T employees who put their lives in danger to save others. Since 2006, only 9 employees have received this honor.
