Developers from near and far flexed their coding muscles at the AT&T Developer Summit Hackathon January 4-5, 2014. The results were truly astounding. Both winning groups were led by women, Laura Jansen with Safe Necklace and Cathy Han with M, a mobile ATM solution.

The Safe necklace works as a tracking beacon which children can wear around their neck. The tracker is programed to alert the parent, teacher or supervisor through an app if the child is not where they need to be or too far away.

M is an app that turns the people around you into an ATM to get cash fast and so you don’t have to pay a fee.

When it comes to women and technology, AT&T leads the way. From the Girls Who Code summer program to helping young women pursue opportunities in science, technology, math and engineering (STEM), AT&T recognizes and encourages women to enter the technology field.
