In 2013, we announced our commitment to pilot some of the fastest Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second in Austin, Texas over the 100% fiber AT&T GigaPower network. Why? To test if this was something customers wanted.

A few months later, this little gig went to market when we launched our first AT&T GigaPower metro there on Dec. 11, 2013.

Nearly 2 years later, AT&T GigaPower is now available to more than 1 million locations and we already launched service in 18 metros – Atlanta, Austin, Texas, Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Cupertino, Calif., Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Fort Worth, Texas, Greensboro, N.C., Houston, Kansas City, Kan., Jacksonville, Fla., Miami, Nashville, Orlando, Fla., Raleigh-Durham, N.C., San Antonio and Winston-Salem, N.C.

This morning we announced plans to expand AT&T GigaPower to 38 additional metros, starting with the launch of service in parts of the Los Angeles and West Palm Beach metros today. This is another step on our journey to bring our ultra-fast fiber network to reach more than 14 million locations. This will bring us to at least 56 metros where AT&T GigaPower is available or planned.
