If you thought the solar eclipse was cool, here’s another cosmic event  – this one in the tennis firmament.  And no need for special glasses.  DIRECTV, in collaboration with ESPN, will offer expanded live TV coverage of the US Open Championship, the final Major tennis event of the season. ESPN is the exclusive home of live US Open coverage in the U.S., with more than 130 hours on ESPN, ESPN2 and streaming live on the ESPN App.

Watch up to 6 live matches in HD1, all on one screen, on DIRECTV’s exclusive Mix Channel2 (701) during the first 7 days (Aug. 28-Sept. 3) of the tournament. It’s all part of the US Open Experience on DIRECTV.  The Mix features ESPN coverage (channel 702) plus 5 court feeds (channels 703-707) from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

As part of the television experience, there’s also an interactive app with player bios and a Match Guide. The guide comes with:

  • Real time scores
  • Complete men’s & women’s and mix doubles draws
  • Player headshots

Also a ticker on the 6-screens-in-1 Mix channel displays real time scores and commentary.
