AT&T Latin America team,
As you heard from our Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson, AT&T reported earnings today and I’m
pleased that AT&T Latin America delivered strong 2019 results.
Despite a challenging year with significant headwinds in many areas of our business, you
continued to persevere, and your hard work paid off. For the first time since the
acquisition, Mexico was EBITDA positive in the fourth quarter, with strong improvements
in profitability for the entire year. Our business in Mexico also continued to earn the
highest customer service scores in the industry and had 1.5M net adds in 2019.
In VRIO, we hit our commitment to deliver positive cash flow and, excluding the impact
of foreign exchange, we generated solid revenue and EBITDA growth. VRIO also became the #1
pay TV provider across the countries where we operate.
Most importantly, AT&T Latin America rose to new heights as a great place to work. For
the first time in our history, we ranked #25 on the list of the World’s Best Workplaces.
And, all our operations – including our 11 operations across VRIO and in Mexico – have
been nationally ranked as “Best Workplaces” by Great Places to Work® (GPTW).
These accomplishments are no small feat. I want to personally thank each of you for your
hard work and your perseverance in 2019. Your efforts set a solid foundation for us to
continue to build upon.
As we move into 2020, let’s stay focused on driving profitable growth and providing a
world-class customer experience. With your passion, perseverance and collaboration, I am
confident we can achieve great things again in 2020!
