3 Things You Need to Know about Robocalls
Robocalls can be more than a nuisance. They can also be bad guys trying to get your money or personal information. Watch this video to learn more about robocalls and what you can do to help stop them.
- Robocalls are automated phone calls meant to deliver a prerecorded message. Some are legal, like from politicians or charities, and as long as they follow certain rules you can’t block them. But others are bad guys trying to scam you by using your personal information.
- At AT&T, we’ve blocked more than 4.6 billion illegal robocalls. Our system identifies potential illegal robocalls to prevent them from reaching your phone. We are also leading the way on new caller ID technology that will validate calls allowing you to better identify bad guys ‘spoofing’ numbers to get you to answer.
- You can also help stop robocalls by doing three things: Stop, Think, Act.
- Stop – don’t automatically answer when your phone rings.
- Think - if you don’t know the number, let it ring.

- Install a call blocking service, like the free AT&T Call Protect app for mobile phones. AT&T Call Protect has blocked or labeled nearly one billion robocalls.
- Report suspected robocalls. Here's how:
- Landline customers can also block individual numbers:
- AT&T Phone (VoIP) customers can use a feature called Call Blocking to block up to 100 telephone numbers by simply dialing *61 immediately after the unwanted call.
- Traditional landline customers can block up to ten numbers by dialing *60 after the unwanted call. This feature is called Call Block, Call Screening or Call Blocker, depending on where you live.
