New Call Protect Features
AT&T Call Protect Adds More Features at No Charge
This summer, AT&T* began adding automatic fraud call blocking to millions of AT&T wireless lines at no charge. Today, we are adding three new features that make unwanted robocalls even easier to avoid.
- Calls identified as “Spam Risk” can now be blocked automatically for no charge.
- Calls from anyone not in your address book can be sent to voicemail automatically.
- Calls can be blocked using Siri shortcuts. “Hey Siri, block the last call.”
All three opt-in features are available through the free AT&T Call Protect app.
“Our customers deserve more ways to combat nuisance calls and we are excited to provide more free tools to help them do just that,” said Kevin Petersen, AT&T Senior Vice President – Postpaid Wireless Products.
AT&T Call Protect launched in 2016. The network-level service blocks nuisance calls or labels them so you can choose to answer or not.
When you download the accompanying app, you can now enable “Spam Risk” blocking, send “Unknown Callers” direct to voicemail on iOS and Android, and use the Siri function at no charge. Spam Risk is the largest category of nuisance calls identified by AT&T Call Protect. Siri shortcuts can be enabled in the iOS Shortcuts app.
You also can upgrade to AT&T Call Protect Plus. It provides Caller ID to identify unknown caller details; Reverse Number Lookup to provide details when you enter a U.S. number; and Custom Call Control options to proactively block additional unwanted robocall categories like telemarketers. The Plus service also includes all the Plus features of its sister app, AT&T Mobile Security. These include Secure Wi-Fi VPN; Personal ID Monitor to notify you if your personal information is found on the dark web; and more. The combined services cost $3.99/mo.
AT&T is dedicated to the fight against nuisance calls. In addition to these new tools, AT&T Call Protect has started to use SHAKEN/STIR call authentication to help verify legitimate callers.
