AT&T and DIRECTV Paint Masters Tournament Picture in Stunning 4K With More Live Coverage This Year
The Masters Experience – Only on DIRECTV – Returns with Mosaic Channel and Interactive Leader Board and Scorecard
It’s been said playing at Augusta National Golf Club is like being in the most perfect picture ever painted. Starting Thursday, AT&T1 and DIRECTV will bring viewers closer than ever to that picture when they apply their 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) brush strokes to another Masters Tournament broadcast.
AT&T debuted the first-ever 4K UHD live event channel during coverage of the 2016 Masters Tournament on DIRECTV. This year, only golf fans with DIRECTV and compatible equipment will see 2 channels of live 4K TV coverage produced by CBS. Channel 105 will feature Amen Corner and channel 106 will show all the action on holes 15 (Firethorn) and 16 (Redbud). Coverage will include all 4 rounds of the tournament, April 6-9.
There are also special viewing features for fans not watching in 4K. “The Masters Experience” returns, compliments of DIRECTV. Its signature HD Mosaic displays 4 screens of live, enhanced CBS-produced coverage on one channel (701). Alongside is an interactive leader board with access to scorecards and player bios.2 The DIRECTV 4-screen HD Mosaic (channels 702-705) will showcase ESPN and CBS network coverage, 2 featured groups, Amen Corner and Holes 15 and 16.
“We’re expanding DIRECTV’s live 4K coverage of the Masters Tournament this year,” said Dan York, chief content officer, AT&T Entertainment Group. “With our 4K broadcast, we want TV viewers to have that visceral experience of sitting just behind the ropes or watching as a patron at Amen Corner. It’s a trip well worth taking.”
To view live 4K UHD telecasts on DIRECTV, customers need:
- A Genie HD DVR (model HR54 or later)
- A DIRECTV 4K Ready TV, or a 4K TV connected to a 4K Genie Mini. Additional & advanced receiver fees apply.3
