AT&T1 is boosting its mobile network to help customers have a great wireless experience in New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

We deployed 4 Cell on Wheels (COWs) and updated our Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to support the French Quarter. These upgrades will help with the expected wireless network traffic from crowds in New Orleans. The enhancements and boosting our LTE network capacity in the French Quarter by 77% will help improve reliability and data speeds throughout the event.

"Mardi Gras is a fun experience for our customers and those who travel to Louisiana from across the world. We want to make it easier for them to share this uniquely New Orleans experience with friends and family through calls, texts, photos and social networks,” said Sonia Perez, president, AT&T Louisiana. “Our team is at work deploying equipment to meet the increased demand and help provide the best wireless experience.”

In Louisiana alone, between 2013 and 2015 we invested more than $1 billion in our wireless and wireline networks.

Our total investment (U.S. and International) over the last 5 years (2012-2016), including capital investment and acquisitions of spectrum and wireless operations, is more than $140 billion. This is the largest investment in the U.S. by any public company. These investments help ensure Louisiana residents continue to enjoy the best possible experience over the AT&T network, whether at home, work or on the go.

Not only are we committed to enhancing the experience for our customers, but are committed to improving the communities we serve. This year, we are sponsoring a Purple Heart Medal recipient in the Atlas Mardi Gras with the Legion of Mars. The Legion of Mars is the first ever Mardi Gras Krewe to honor veterans and military personnel. We are honored to be a part  of this tradition.
