Network Disaster Recovery Team Deploying Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (COLTs) to Boost Coverage

Damages caused by wildfires in East Tennessee have affected some AT&T* wireless services in the area.  To help customers and emergency responders stay connected, local AT&T teams and our Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) team are deploying Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (COLTs), emergency communications equipment, and portable charging equipment stations in the area.

“Our first and foremost concern is the safety of residents and emergency response crews in the affected area,” said Joelle Phillips, President of AT&T Tennessee. “Staying connected during natural disasters like this wildfire is critical to customers and emergency management officials.”

Additionally, customers can support American Red Cross disaster relief by sending a text with ‘REDCROSS’ to 90999 to make a $10 donation. **

AT&T is the first private sector company to receive certification under the Department of Homeland Security’s Private Sector Preparedness, or PS-Prep, program. PS-Prep certification validates that AT&T is able to maintain or recover its own business operations in the face of an emergency or disaster, whether natural, man-made, or cyber in nature.

We’ve invested more than $600 million in our Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) program. Our arsenal of equipment makes it one of the nation’s largest and most advanced disaster response programs.
