Over 50,000 Locals and Tourists Will Benefit From Free Wi-Fi in Public Places

AT&T* in Mexico and the government of San Miguel de Allende completed the project to connect the city’s locals and tourists with free Wi-Fi. This effort is part of the $7 billion investment AT&T in Mexico committed to expand its business and deploy network technology throughout the country.

This deployment will benefit more than 50,000 locals and tourists. They will now be able to share their experiences thanks to 20 hot-spots providing free Wi-Fi in main parks and public squares. This project involved 150 technicians and engineers.

"We are glad AT&T is part of the growth of such an iconic place like San Miguel de Allende. AT&T committed to reduce the digital gap in Mexico," said Vice President and General Manager of the Pacific Region of AT&T in Mexico Emmanuel Cisneros.

"San Miguel de Allende joins international competitiveness by having free internet the in 64 blocks considered a Heritage site. This is an added attraction for our beloved municipality. The connection, along with its architecture, history and hospitality places the city as one of the favorite places in the world," said Mayor of San Miguel de Allende Gonzalo González Rodríguez.

The deployment of free Wi-Fi in San Miguel de Allende is part of AT&T in Mexico’s Smart Cities project in the country. The company also recently announced connectivity projects in Mexico City and Quintana Roo.
