AT&T's Lori Lee Recognized as One of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business by Fortune Magazine
DALLAS, Sept. 18, 2014 -- Lori Lee, AT&T senior executive vice president, today was recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of 2014’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. Lee leads AT&T Home Solutions—the wireline consumer organization which provides U-verse high speed Internet, TV and Voice over IP services, in addition to traditional telephone service and advanced advertising.
Lee joined AT&T in 1997 and has held numerous leadership positions. She is the first AT&T executive to be named to the prestigious list.
“This is an honor that really speaks to the strength of AT&T,” Lee said. “We’re passionate about connecting people with each other, information and entertainment at home, work or on the go. And we’re doing it with a customer experience that stands apart from others. The real power of AT&T is in our diversity, great opportunities and a shared commitment to deliver the future first. More than 83,000 women working at AT&T are leading innovation and technology, and transforming how we connect with our world.”
The Most Powerful Women in Business list is compiled by Fortune editors who consider four criteria: the size and importance of the woman’s business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career and social and cultural influence.
“We are proud of Lori’s accomplishments, especially how she’s transformed our customer experience with high speed Internet and TV service,” said Randall Stephenson, chairman and CEO of AT&T. “Her leadership and commitment to our customers and employees positions us for ongoing success.”
Lee’s organization is responsible for 36 million consumer connections through various communication and technology offerings. And it’s transforming how people connect. The organization is responsible for delivering the wireline portion of AT&T’s Project VIP, a multi-billion dollar investment plan to expand and enhance broadband networks. In December 2013, the organization launched U-verse with AT&T GigaPower, an all-fiber Internet network capable of delivering speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. The company is considering expanding the ultra-fast service to up to 100 candidate cities.
Under Lee’s direction, AT&T Home Solutions is responsible for generating nearly $23 billion in annualized revenue. Total U-verse revenues grew nearly 25 percent in the second quarter of this year. U-verse is the fastest growing product set at AT&T.
The Home Solutions organization has created a better customer experience. In fact, where AT&T U-verse services are available, subscribers are more satisfied overall when compared to cable’s video and Internet subscribers. U-verse recently received three Women’s Choice Awards® as “America’s Most Recommended Brand among women for Broadband, Television and Phone Service.” And AT&T U-verse TV was named 2013 Video Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.
Lee is from Springfield, MO, and holds a B.S. in business administration and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a board member of the American Film Institute. She lives in Dallas with her husband and two sons.
