AT&T Launches Ultra-Fast Internet Speeds in the Greater Sacramento Area
Speeds up to 1 Gigabit per Second Available on the AT&T GigaPower Network
AT&T1 today launched ultra-fast internet service in the greater Sacramento area, in parts of Placer County (Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, and their surrounding communities).2 These communities are in addition to the parts of the Bay Area where we initially launched service in 2015, and expanded in parts of Fresno, Clovis, and other areas of the Central Valley in June. Customers in the area will be able to get speeds up to 1 gigabit per second3 (Gbps) in homes, apartments and small businesses.
Internet speeds up to 1Gbps over our 100% fiber AT&T GigaPower network are blazing fast.
- Instantly access the latest online movies, music and games.
- Connect faster to the cloud, videoconferencing and more.
- Download 25 songs in 1 second, a TV show in 4 seconds or your favorite HD movie in less than 34 seconds.4
“AT&T is committed to extending AT&T GigaPower throughout California because our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways,” said Ken McNeely, president, AT&T California. “A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, and capturing what’s going on in their world with live videos. For these reasons, we are proud to now offer AT&T GigaPower in Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln and their surrounding communities.”
“AT&T GigaPower will contribute to our growing economy and high quality of life in Placer County,” said Placer County Supervisor Uhler. “Access to high-speed internet will help create new jobs, grow small businesses and improve access to educational opportunities.”
“Having access to internet at gigabit speeds is a strategic advantage for our city,” said City of Roseville Mayor Carol Garcia. “Roseville’s been recognized by the Center for Digital Government as one of the top digital cities in the nation. We were also named one of the best cities for back-office locations among the top 50 suburban markets in the U.S. and Canada, and this kind of enhancement to our technology infrastructure reinforces that recognition.”
“We are proud that the AT&T GigaPower network is coming to Sierra Community College,” said Willy Duncan, Sierra Community College superintendent and president. “We look forward to the new economic and innovation opportunities it will enable for our students, entrepreneurs and small businesses.”
AT&T GigaPower offers internet speeds up to 1Gbps for as low as $90 a month.5
AT&T GigaPower customers have access to the latest Wi-Fi technology. They can enjoy our best in-home Wi-Fi experience, faster Wi-Fi speeds, expanded coverage and support for all of their devices.
Customers may be able to choose between our award-winning DIRECTV or U-verse TV services. We have single, double and triple play offers to fit each customer’s needs.
Our customers subscribing to speeds up to 1Gbps are nearly 30% more likely to stick with AT&T than our customers subscribing to internet services not on the AT&T GigaPower network.
The AT&T GigaPower network is currently available in over 2.2 million locations across 29 of the nation’s largest metro areas. We have plans to expand the availability of ultra-fast internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second in parts of 27 more areas – at least 56 metros in total.
Ultimately, we’ll plan to reach more than 14 million residential and commercial locations with fiber.
AT&T has invested more than $7.25 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in California between 2013 through 2015. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
Additionally, our AT&T Business Fiber internet service is already available to small businesses in parts of more than 180 U.S. cities, making it possible to download and upload at speeds up to 300 megabits per second.6 Certain markets, such as San Francisco, now have speeds up to 1 gigabit per second available over AT&T Business Fiber. It supports business applications, such as video conferencing, working in the cloud and disaster recovery.
