AT&T Continues to Lead in Bringing 5G Experiences to Life
2018 has been a big year for AT&T and 5G firsts. We completed the world’s first standards-based mmWave 5G connections on a live production network, in September with test equipment and in October with a mobile 5G device coming this year.
Beyond network firsts, in June we were the first to bring robust mobile 5G demonstrations to the public, starting at AT&T SHAPE on the Warner Bros. studio lot offering a unique 3-way augmented reality experience. We then brought esports shoutcasters and surprise talent to E3 in Los Angeles in June and most recently in August with RoosterTeeth personalities at RTX in Austin. This meant showing both consumers and businesses what 5G experiences could be like in the future.
Now, we’re first to offer some of the best 5G experiences yet.
On Nov. 18, we’ll roll-out the first 5G touchdown dance at the Falcons pre-game fan event at International Plazas outside of Gate Two at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Using 5G connectivity, volumetric capture stages, depth cameras and the power of machine learning, we’ll create a 3D rendering of a fan’s touchdown dance moves in motion in real-time.
In December we’ll be the first to offer interactive storytelling over mobile 5G. At our 5G Storybooth Experience, visitors will experience the lives of incredible individuals through the power of mobile 5G – including Olympians and world-renown musicians and filmmakers. To bring these experiences to life, we are working with a pioneer of virtual, augmented and mixed reality, Nonny de la Peña (CEO & Founder of Emblematic Group), who was most recently presented with this year’s Technology Innovator of the Year Award by Wall Street Journal Magazine, for her integral role in pushing XR technologies forward.
