Imagine being a student and for one day learning about opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) with hands-on activities that involve connected cars, cyber security and top experts in research, conservation and exploration . That’s exactly what more than 2,200 high school students across the country will do on Friday, February 27, 2015 when they participate in HACEMOS 17th annual National High Technology Day. Students from 32 different cities will take part in the simultaneous, multi-city event in conjunction with General Motors and National Geographic Learning.

Programming will vary by location and include an introduction to circuitry and workshops featuring cyber security, mobility and AT&T U-verse® technologies. In addition, collaborations with the National Geographic Explorers and General Motors will expose students to innovative technologies and STEM careers as well as GM‘s Connected Car powered by AT&T's 4G LTE network.. There will also be specialty tours, keynotes from top AT&T executives and students will connect with other high schools using AT&T Telepresence Solution®, AT&T's advanced, high definition videoconferencing service.  Students will also have the opportunity to experience firsthand the dangers of texting while driving through an on-site simulator as part of AT&T's It Can Wait campaign.

“Our goal is to empower young minds so they can become leaders in the career fields of their choice,” said Cinthya Allen, Executive Vice President Operations for HACEMOS. “We rely on the participation of many local and national groups to make this multi-city event a success every year, and we are extremely proud of our continued growth over the years.”

This year, more than 2,200 high school students are scheduled to participate in National High Technology Day, marking an increase of 50 percent in student participation from 2014.
