For those taking flight, download GateGuru to your smartphone ASAP. Not only will this app show your travel itinerary, alerting you of anything from arrival times to delays, it will also help bide the time waiting for your flight. You’ll be able to check out what stores and restaurants are around your gate. Bonus: you can even book a rental car via Avis with this app.

Road tripping and don’t know where you stop? No sweat. The iExit Interstate Exit Guide is this app for you. This app lets you know what’s off each upcoming exit, taking the guessing game out of where to get gas (GasBuddy can narrow that search down even more) and food along the way.

Once you’re there, surely you’ll need a hand in your holiday meal planning. Check out the Food52 app for some of the best holiday recipes, party tips, and more.

There are also a couple apps that are great for both finding and remembering favorite stops. NearMe let’s you search for places to go, you guessed it, near you. While Pin Drop takes social media to a whole new level, making it easy to share your local finds with friends (and see if they have any hot spot suggestions), and refers back to your archives if you plan to visit again.
