AT&T, in partnership with the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC), has introduced a new AT&T Wi‑Fi/Charging Station trailer designed to support communities during disasters. The solar‑powered unit features 34 charging ports and provides free Wi‑Fi, serving as a reliable resource hub for residents who need power and connectivity when it matters most.

This connectivity resource is available 24/7 at the American Red Cross shelter, hosted at the Oxford Activity Center at 400 Price Street in Oxford, MS, and will remain available as long as needed.

Our network teams are working around the clock to restore communications in some of the areas hardest hit by Winter Storm Fern. We’re making strong progress and moving as quickly and safely as possible to restore remaining service impacts across parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Overall, our wireless network is operating at more than 99% of normal in these states.

Customers may still be experiencing home phone and internet service disruptions until power is restored and all repairs are completed. Wireline (home phone/internet) customers can visit att.com/outages to sign up for a one-time service restoration text alert.

As our recovery and cleanup work continues, we ask the community to be mindful that lines on the ground are providing critical connections. Do not cut any lines on the ground and do not disrupt equipment – whether generators or other infrastructure.

As communities work to recover from Winter Storm Fern, AT&T’s restoration efforts are making steady progress.

Our Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) team is actively focused on hard-hit areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Emergency crews are restoring impacted sites, deploying portable generators and refueling fixed generators, with technicians on the ground to keep major network facilities online. We’re keeping NDR assets and personnel in place to help until recovery is complete.

The FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG), led by former first responders, remains focused on supporting emergency communications and has responded to more than 20 support requests from public safety so far.

At the same time, we’re preparing for the approaching Winter Storm Gianna, and pre-deploying generators and NDR personnel in the Carolinas and Southeast Virginia as part of our playbook.

Keeping you connected matters to us, and we’ll keep you posted with additional updates.

As Winter Storm Fern moves away from affected regions, customers may continue to experience home phone, internet, and wireless service disruptions due to commercial power outages.

The FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) is on the ground, and has responded to more than a dozen requests from public safety to support their emergency communications so far.  In addition, FirstNet liaisons are in contact with federal, state, and local officials on our response efforts to support first responders and the communities they serve.

We’re storm-ready.

Our teams are tracking Winter Storm Fern and prepared to respond to any network impacts. Staying connected is critical, especially during severe weather.

Here’s how we’re preparing:

  • Boosting network capacity for higher call volume
  • Testing backup batteries at cell sites
  • Staging portable and maintaining fixed generators
  • Positioning emergency response equipment for rapid deployment

The FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG)led by former first responders, stands ready to support emergency communications and deploy backup solutions as needed.

Be prepared before the storm hits. Here are quick tips for our customers:

  • Stay informed: Use mobile devices for weather updates if home phones go out
  • Charge ahead and save battery: Use power-save mode, turn off Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, delete unused apps, or switch to Airplane Mode
    • To help keep our customers connected, we are offering 25% off power accessories at select AT&T Retail and participating Authorized Retail locations in areas that are expected to be affected by Winter Store Fern. This offer is valid through Jan 26, 2026.
  • Update emergency contacts: Store key numbers in your phone (police, fire, hospital, family)
  • Limit non-emergency calls: High call volumes can cause delays; hang up and try again if needed
  • Try texting: Texts often go through faster than calls during network congestion
  • Use satellite if needed: iPhone 14+ (iOS 16.1/18): Emergency services & messages via satellite / Google Pixel 9: Text emergency services via satellite. For more information on availability and how to use, visit here for iPhone and here for Pixel.

We’ll keep monitoring the situation and remain focused on keeping customers and first responders connected.
