Key Takeaways:

  • AT&T will host 10 retail laptop distribution events, giving a total of 1,000 laptops, turning customer recycling into direct community support.
  • Customers have recycled more than 10,000 pounds of electronics and donated more than $1M in trade-in value to support laptop distributions.
  • With recycling bins in more than 200+ stores, the campaign gives customers a simple way to reduce e-waste while contributing to AT&T’s broader $5B commitment to help 25M people get and stay connected by 2030.

In time for back-to-school season, AT&T is hosting 10 laptop distribution events at retail stores nationwide and giving away 1,000 refurbished laptops to students through the company’s collaboration with Compudopt and Human-I-T. The effort is supported by AT&T’s Retail E-Waste Campaign, through which customers have recycled more than 10,000 pounds of electronics at participating AT&T stores and donated more than $1M in trade-in value to help reduce landfill waste and expand access to technology.

Through these events, eligible students will receive refurbished laptops and backpacks to help them prepare for the school year. Access to a reliable device is essential for students to complete schoolwork, apply for jobs, access services, and stay connected. These distributions illustrate how customers are driving impact for families across the country by participating in AT&T’s Retail E-waste Campaign and promoting more responsible electronics disposal.

Launched in 2025, AT&T’s Retail E-Waste Campaign allows customers to recycle old cell phones, tablets, and charging cords at more than 200 stores nationwide. For every 10 pounds of eligible e-waste collected, AT&T provides one laptop to help narrow the digital divide in the communities it serves. By connecting circularity with digital inclusion, the program gives customers an easy way to take action locally while contributing to a larger national effort.

“Our Retail E-Waste Campaign shows what’s possible when our customers take a simple action that creates meaningful impact,” said Mylayna Albright, VP of Corporate Responsibility at AT&T. “By recycling old devices, customers are helping reduce e-waste while putting laptops directly into the hands of students and families who need them. It’s a powerful example of how environmental responsibility and digital access can work together to help more people get connected and prepared for the future.”
