Sound Safari is an effort to prototype a solution which adds acoustic intelligence through machine learning methods. It uses sensor technology to listen for sounds and could have industrial or automotive applications, for example.
Sound is a universal and cost effective means of connecting all the disparate and individual sensor devices consumers use routinely. Every day, new smart and connected devices are coming on to market that can interact with your network. Sound Safari incorporates sound sensing turn basic products and appliances into smart, connected devices that can interact with your network.
For example, Sound Safari could sense for an engine tick in your car before it fails, or listen for a failed bearing in machinery. Or, Sound Safari can listen to the doorbell, footsteps, running water, dryer, and other sounds while you’re not at home.
Sound Safari incorporates One Llama Labs’ acoustic intelligence into AT&T platforms. This project encompasses prototyping sounds recognition capabilities and explores the use of sound recognition, thus enabling any sound generating device to be integrated into the network.
