At AT&T, we pride ourselves on being the backbone of modern connectivity, providing cutting-edge solutions through our vast fiber and wireless networks. We operate entire networks made up of more than 1.4 million miles of fiber and licensed wireless spectrum that all work symbiotically to transmit 737 petabytes of data daily.1 In our connected world, we take it for granted that we can get online anywhere – but none of this happens without the underlying broadband network that carries traffic across the globe and back in a split-second.
And when you’re at home, you probably use Wi-Fi as interface to connect to our fiber network. It’s become a household name (literally), but it’s been a journey to get to today – I know because I started my career here just as Wi-Fi was making its way into homes. Our network has evolved over the years – and we’re committed to continuing its evolution because we think our customers deserve our best connectivity. That’s why we’re excited to be among the first to bring Wi-Fi 7 to customers, with plans to introduce a new Wi-Fi 7-capable gateway before the end of the year. We believe Wi-Fi 7 will help customers access the multi-gig internet speeds made possible by fiber and the next-generation applications and technologies that will be built upon them.
It’s all part of our purpose to help customers get connected wherever they are, thanks to a fiber and mobile network that can support American’s growing demand for connectivity at home or on the go.
My team at AT&T isn’t just preparing for this future—we’re shaping it, and we look forward to having our customers be some of the first to harness the benefits that come with constant innovation and connectivity solutions like Wi-Fi 7 and more to come.
