Black innovators have helped AT&T connect people since Lewis Latimer first drafted plans for Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone in 1876.  AT&T continues to identify and highlight the next generation of black history-makers with AT&T 28 Days.

This is a celebration of black history and pioneers past and present. Throughout February, we’ll feature interactive content on AT&T the Bridge. The stories shine a light on how the contributions of blacks continue to influence business, the arts, and STEM.

We salute those who answer the call to lead the next generation. They are the dreamers, believers and game-changers. They show up and show out. And make the world better in ways big and small.

DARE TO BE NEXT

We’re saluting these leaders with a video series called “Those Who Dare.”  The trailblazers are:

  • Artist Dubelyoo Wright, who uses smart devices to create and display award-winning urban art.
  • Entrepreneur Christine Souffrant, who uses social media to connect people to street merchants around the world.
  • Health Advocate Dr. Ian Smith, who uses tech to engage communities in health and wellness.
  • Non-profit STEMLY, an urban education initiative that encourages black youth to explore careers in the sciences.
  • Recording artist St. Beauty, whose truthful lyrics explore the emotional depths of life and love.

SALUTE TO EXCELLENCE

Black people have helped shape American culture and commerce throughout history. The 28 Days “Black Excellence” photo album will share some of these compelling stories in pictures. We’ll add new images and facts weekly. @ATT  followers can win prizes by correctly answering #BlackExcellence trivia via Twitter.

Our AT&T 28 Days Sweepstakes runs Feb. 1 through March 5. One lucky follower will win a trip for 2 to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., and a tech prize pack.*

Black History is more than just one month.

We celebrate the contributions of black leaders at AT&T and beyond 365 days a year through storytelling and initiatives that connect and resonate with the black community.  It’s a part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. It’s key to innovation and great business.
