FirstNet: supporting public safety

FirstNet® is the nationwide, wireless communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders and public safety community. Backed by Congress, it gives firefighters, law enforcement, paramedics, 9-1-1 telecommunicators, emergency managers and more unthrottled access to the connectivity they need to efficiently and effectively coordinate and communicate their emergency response.

With FirstNet, we make public safety’s mission the priority. When public safety agencies on FirstNet respond to an incident – whether it be a hurricane, wildfire, flood, earthquake, tornado or man-made disaster – we’re there by their side, helping to coordinate public safety’s needs and deliver for the men and women our communities are counting on most. That’s what it means to be public safety’s network platform partner.

So far this year, FirstNet supported public safety during 550+ emergency operations – helping them stay connected and operate faster, safer and more effectively when lives are on the line.

Public Safety agencies subscribing to FirstNet have access to a dedicated, nationwide fleet of

All at no additional charge. Public safety agencies on FirstNet can request the equipment for added support during disasters. The deployable network assets are designed to keep FirstNet subscribers connected to the information they need, no matter where their mission takes them – allowing first responders to make rescues, communicate and coordinate their emergency response, or aid in recovery, even in the hardest hit areas or most remote parts of the country.

In addition to the FirstNet fleet, public safety will be able to tap into the 300+ assets, from the AT&T Network Disaster Recovery fleet when available.

To strengthen public safety’s command and control of their network, we launched the FirstNet Response Operations Program. This program aligns with Homeland Security’s National Incident Management System. The FirstNet Response Operations Program – led by former first responders – guides the deployment of the FirstNet deployable assets based on the needs of public safety, coordinating across federal, state, local and tribal agencies with a focus on life safety, incident stabilization and property conservation.

In June 2021, we launched “ROG the Dog” animal assisted therapy to support public safety on the front lines. This new initiative builds off of the launch of the FirstNet Health & Wellness Coalition and is currently comprised of over 30 animals located across the U.S.
