PGA Championship to Air in 4K HDR for the First Time
First Pay-TV Provider to Carry All 4 Majors in 4K HDR
DIRECTV, the first U.S. pay-TV provider to broadcast live sports in 4K and 4K with High Dynamic Range, continues to tee up high quality at-home viewing experiences for sports. DIRECTV brings you the upcoming PGA Championship, produced by CBS Sports, in 4K HDR1 for the first time.
This marks DIRECTV as the first pay-TV provider to carry all 4 golf majors – the Masters, U.S. Open Championship, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship – in 4K HDR – another milestone for the 4K leader in sports.
4K HDR coverage of the PGA Championship starts live on DIRECTV Channel 106 Thursday, Aug. 9, and runs through the weekend:
- Thursday, Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 10 – 2 p.m. ET – 8 p.m. ET
- Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug. 12 – 11 a.m. ET– 7 p.m. ET
4K offers 4x as many pixels as high definition (HD). With high dynamic range (HDR), you’ll see every swing with greater clarity, better contrast, wide color gamut and 10-bit color depth. And, at 60 frames per second, the motion of every swing will be more fluid.
DIRECTV hosts 3 fully dedicated 4K TV channels (104, 106 and PPV channel 105) with both live and previously recorded documentaries, concerts, series and pay-per-view events.
1Limited programming available. To watch content in 4K HDR, 4K HDR compatible equipment, minimum programming (SELECT Package or higher), 4K account authorization and professional installation required. Other conditions apply.
