Native Americans, their culture, history and heritage are an essential part of the fabric of our country, and at AT&T we are proud of the ways that our Native American employees strengthen our culture of inclusion and innovation.

Workforce

Native American employees make up 0.7% of our U.S. workforce; 0.5% of managers; 0.8% of frontline employees.

In 2022, Native American employees made up 0.8% of our new hires.

Our Inter-Tribal Council of AT&T Employees (ICAE) Employee Resource Group has close to 2,000 members.

Community

We proudly support organizations that enhance the quality of life and advance opportunities for Native American youth, including the American Indian College Fund, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) National Conference and the Barcid Foundation.

And with FirstNet®, America’s public safety network, we’re helping improve connectivity for tribal nations across the country. It’s just one way we are helping ensure all first responders – and the communities they serve – have access to critical connectivity to help meet the urgent challenges of today and tomorrow.

Customers

AT&T’s participation in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible households with a benefit of up to $30 a month and up to $75 on qualifying tribal lands to reduce the cost of broadband service.

During the pandemic, we contributed to the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center’s latest program called projectConnect, a nationwide initiative that provides free community Wi-Fi installations to vulnerable students and underserved communities. AT&T supported approximately 30 installations in rural and tribal lands. And FirstNet, Built with AT&T provided much needed connectivity to support logistics coordination of packaged foods and medical supplies to tribal nations in 32 states.

We are also building new infrastructure and working closely with local telecom providers to more quickly address tribal coverage needs and expand the reach of FirstNet for first responders. This includes places like the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Reservation in Wisconsin, the Nez Perce Reservation in Idaho, the Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota and the Navajo Nation.
