AT&T Launches Ultra-Fast Internet Speeds in the Bay Area

Speeds up to 1 Gigabit per Second Available on the AT&T GigaPower Network in parts of the San Francisco and San Jose Metro Areas

AT&T¹ today launched ultra-fast Internet service in parts of San Francisco, San Jose, Dublin, Mountain View, Santa Clara and San Ramon.²  These communities are in addition to the parts of the Cupertino area where we initially launched service in 2015.

Customers in tens of thousands of area homes, apartments and small businesses will be able to get speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps)³ today, with plans to nearly triple availability by the end of the year. The service is currently available in nearly 30 apartment complexes in the Bay Area, such as at the LUMINA, also known as 201 Folsom Street, a 655-unit residential waterfront condominium in the Rincon Hill neighborhood.

AT&T GigaPower offers Internet speeds up to 1Gbps for as low as $70 a month.⁵

AT&T GigaPower customers have access to the latest Wi-Fi technology. They can enjoy our best in-home Wi-Fi experience, faster Wi-Fi speeds, expanded coverage and support for all of their devices.

Customers may be able to choose between our award-winning DIRECTV or U-verse TV services. We have single, double and triple play offers to fit each customer’s needs.

The AT&T GigaPower network is currently available in over 1.6 million locations across 22 of the nation’s largest metro areas. We have plans to expand the availability of ultra-fast Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second in parts of 34 more areas – at least 56 metros in total.

Ultimately, we’ll plan to reach more than 14 million residential and commercial locations with fiber.

AT&T has invested more than $7.4 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in California between 2012 through 2014. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

Additionally, our AT&T Business Fiber Internet service is already available to small businesses in parts of more than 180 U.S. cities, making it possible to download and upload at speeds up to 300 megabits per second.⁶ Certain markets, such as San Francisco, now have speeds up to 1 gigabit per second available over AT&T Business Fiber. We plan to expand to additional markets this summer. It supports business applications, such as video conferencing, working in the cloud and disaster recovery.
