Accenture Joins AT&T to Usher in a New Era of Agile Business Functionality

AT&T* and Accenture (NYSE:ACN) are embarking on a multi-year project to improve business by transforming older business applications into faster, more flexible microservices.

Small businesses and global entities will use these software applications to order all AT&T products and services that range from fiber to security solutions.

The Accenture and AT&T teams will not only accelerate speed through the development of microservices using scaled agile and DevOps processes, but also push out application upgrades. These will improve customer experiences, reduce support costs, and get services to market faster.

“Our collaboration with Accenture allows us to quickly deliver the products and services our customers need to stay competitive in today’s technology-based economy,” said Pam Parisian, president, Technology Development, AT&T. “Soon, they will be able to access a whole new level of scalability and functionality as we shift legacy business functions into flexible, software-centric capabilities.”

Steve Tibbetts, a managing director at Accenture said, “By decomposing legacy systems into suites of small, modular and independent services, we can co-develop new products more rapidly than ever before. Together with AT&T, we are able to deliver an enhanced experience for their customers.”

This marks the second company to join the AT&T Microservices Supplier Program. Last fall, we announced our collaboration with IBM to design, develop and deploy microservices that will transform AT&T’s business backend processes.

Microservices are one of the key pillars of our next-gen network platform. In 2017, we deployed more than 300 microservices – surpassing our goal by 22%. We plan to deploy hundreds of additional microservices in 2018.
