Customers in the first six cities can unleash new possibilities with next-generation, high-speed mobile internet

As part of AT&T’s mission to make the next-generation mobile internet available to 40 million people in Mexico by the end of 2015, Iusacell and Nextel Mexico customers in six cities can now surf, download and connect at faster speeds with the new AT&T 4G LTE network.

The new AT&T 4G LTE network automatically frees customers for new possibilities with the AT&T Unidos wireless plans, which launched in August and are available at Iusacell, Nextel Mexico and Unefon points of sale throughout Mexico. These new plans give customers greater benefits with more megas, thousands of minutes and messages, unlimited social media and Prip® radio, and the option of extending those benefits when travelling to the United States and Canada.

“The mobile internet in the United States created an engine of economic growth, and we believe it will do the same here in Mexico,” said Thaddeus Arroyo, Chief Executive Officer of AT&T in Mexico. “This next-generation, high-speed mobile network empowers consumers and businesses to reach a new potential as they explore, discover and try new things.”

AT&T 4G LTE is now available in the following cities:

  • Atlacomulco, Estado de México
  • Cuernavaca, Morelos
  • Cuautla, Morelos
  • Pachuca, Hidalgo
  • Tepeji, Hidalgo
  • Tulancingo, Hidalgo

AT&T will continue to extend its 4G LTE network throughout Mexico, with plans to cover 100 million people by the end of 2018. The company is moving quickly to reach this plan. AT&T expects to cover 75 million people, nearly two-thirds of the population in Mexico, by the end of 2016.

As part of the first phase to transform the network experience for customers in Mexico, Iusacell and Nextel customers in the first six cities can now enjoy the following benefits:

Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering up to 6x faster speeds than a 3G mobile network. Customers with compatible devices can stream, download, upload and play games faster than ever before.

Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency which refers to the processing time it takes to move data through a network, such as how long it takes to start downloading a webpage or file once you’ve sent the request. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming and two-way video calling.

Devices and applications. AT&T has a wide variety of 4G LTE devices in its robust portfolio. And with the new AT&T 4G LTE network, customers with compatible devices will be able to download videos and music faster, video chat with greater ease and connect to their favorite apps without skipping a beat.

Platform for innovation and enhanced business. 4G LTE has the potential to revolutionize the mobile experience through powerful innovation that can expand and change how we work and live.
