Climate change is one of the world’s most pressing challenges and poses significant risks to companies. Climate change also presents an opportunity for those who will be part of the solution.
Climate change is one of the world’s most pressing challenges. At AT&T, we’re working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help mitigate the impacts of climate change. We’ve set big goals, including our commitment to be carbon neutral by 2035 across our entire global operations. To eliminate our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we’re improving network virtualization and energy efficiency efforts, transitioning to a low-emissions fleet, supporting the renewable energy marketplace and expanding sustainable feature film and TV production.
AT&T connectivity, including broadband and wireless technologies, can enable people and businesses to make more energy-efficient choices and reduce environmental impacts in many ways. As our customers set ambitious goals to reduce emissions, we want to help. We believe that our connectivity services can play a critical role in making businesses and communities more efficient.
AT&T is taking steps to adapt to the changing climate. We’re expanding our industry-leading Climate Change Analysis Tool across the contiguous U.S. to identify the potential impacts of climate change on our network and operations – up to 30 years into the future. The climate impacts we examine include flooding and hurricanes, as well as drought and wildfires. We’re also sharing this data so others can use it in their own risk analysis. These actions are helping to build resilience for our business and, in turn, the communities we serve.
We’re developing solutions that leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) for good. We’re using our IoT expertise to empower our customers to reduce their emissions and to make cities cleaner, safer and stronger through smart cities solutions.
