For the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson, We’re All About the Moms
From on the course, to on your screens anywhere you’re watching, we’re keeping the PGA TOUR pink tradition alive this Mother’s Day weekend
When the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson kicks off Thursday at Trinity Forest Golf Club just south of Dallas, most Americans will be thinking ahead to how they’ll celebrate Mother’s Day.
The AT&T Byron Nelson has its plans ready to go for this Sunday, May 12, and they’re all about the moms in our lives. It’s in keeping with the PGA TOUR pink-themed tradition that tournaments taking place this weekend also celebrate Mother’s Day.
- Treating moms right, on the course at the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson – The tournament will provide a variety of pink-themed treats to moms in attendance, while quantities last. From commemorative Mother’s Day lapel pins to pink-colored floppy sun hats distributed at the main gate and three AT&T locations on the course, moms will stand out as they watch PGA TOUR players take to the course.
- Making a difference in the lives of military moms – AT&T worked with AT&T sponsored-athlete Jordan Spieth to produce a special-edition, pink-colored golf bag. He’ll carry it during his tournament play starting Thursday, May 9. When he’s done, he’ll sign it and the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation will donate it to Operation Shower, who will use it to raise money in support of its mission to bring joy to military families – one amazing baby shower at a time. One more reason why we, and his mom Chris, think he’s a great guy. Read more about that in our exclusive interview with Jordan and Chris.
- Supporting children and families of North Texas – In its 51 years, the tournament has raised $160+ million for the Momentous Institute, which serves 6,000 children and family members directly each year through therapeutic and educational programs, and through its research and training efforts, across North Texas.
- Doing our part for Mother Nature – The AT&T Banners to Backpacks program returns to the spot where it began one year ago at the 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson. As part of the company’s sustainability efforts to have an @ATTImpact, the upcycling program gathers scrim – the material that wraps bleachers and scoreboards – to create thousands of backpacks. 30,000 square feet of material – enough to cover the Statue of Liberty twice, from heel to torch – will be collected after the tournament ends to create upcycled items such as backpacks. These will be distributed to community members via non-profits in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio later this year. Other materials including caddie bibs are also collected and upcycled into smaller items. Between this tournament and other AT&T sponsored-events in 2019, we plan on upcycling more than 44,000 square feet of material.
- Keeping you entertained at home, in 4K HDR – DIRECTV customers with compatible 4K equipment* can watch coverage of holes 16, 17, and 18 live in 4K HDR, and with enhancements include Toptracer visual and radar tracking technology for holes 17 and 18, plus GolfTrax on hole 16. 4K HDR coverage will air Thursday and Friday 3:30-6:30 p.m. ET, as well as Saturday and Sunday 4-7 p.m. ET. Because if you’re going to spend Mother’s Day watching TV, it should be the AT&T Byron Nelson in DIRECTV 4K HDR.
Fans at the course can purchase commemorative Mother’s Day pink-themed items throughout the tournament, and those watching at home or on the go will notice pink color flourishes throughout the course signage and in broadcast coverage.
*4K HDR compatible equipment, minimum programming, 4K account authorization and professional installation required. If 4K TV does not support HDR, content will be viewable in standard 4K. Other conditions apply.
