AT&T Commits more than $1 Million to Organizations Supporting Teachers - July 6, 2020

Teachers give their best to our communities every day. In recognition of their tireless work, AT&T is contributing more than $1 million to teacher-focused organizations as they gear up for another school year. These contributions, made possible in part through AT&T’s Distance Learning & Family Connections fund, will support a variety of programs and resources that provide teachers with tools and training to better support their students. Contributions will benefit:

  • Teach For America’s high-caliber leadership and diversity, equity and inclusion training to their corps members and alumni.
  • Breakthrough Collaborative’s work to place 1,100 Teaching Fellows into summer internship roles that will empower them in the virtual classroom.
  • ISTE’s Summer Learning Academy, which is helping K-12 educators prepare to return to a school system faced with a dramatic shift towards distance and blended learning.
  • Alliance for Excellent Education’s expansion of its Instructional Coaches Leadership Program, supporting emergency needs, continuity of learning plans and more for educators across the country.

AT&T Launching Literacy Program to Amplify Youth Voices – June 23, 2020

AT&T and CNN are collaborating to launch Youth Voices Collective, a program to support student expression and teach writing and journalism skills at a moment when young people are looking for ways to speak out. Youth Voices Collective will provide instruction and publishing opportunities to thousands of students across the U.S., especially those in underserved communities, in collaboration with 826 National, the largest youth writing network in the country, and VOX ATL, a longtime CNN collaborator that amplifies the voices of Atlanta youth.

A Meaningful Match: Connecting Mentors and Students Through AT&T Byron Nelson Golf Tournament – May 7, 2020

AT&T commits more than $500,000 to organizations focused on connecting young people with meaningful mentor relationships – online. Professional golfers Jordan Spieth and Maria Fassi will join influencer Tisha Allyn, Byron Nelson tournament head, John Drago, and executives from AT&T to answer career and mentoring-focused questions submitted through the We’re also supporting programs and resources from MENTOR, iCouldBe, and Technovation.

AT&T and Sesame Workshop Help Families During COVID-19 – April 29, 2020

As families everywhere continue to cope with uncertainty stemming from the global pandemic, Sesame Workshop, in collaboration with AT&T, announced an expansion of its Caring for Each Other initiative to help children and their caregivers stay healthy, build resilience, and adjust to a “for-now normal.”  With a $500,000 contribution from AT&T, new resources will be available to help families face current challenges like the do’s and don’ts for face coverings, illness of a family member, financial insecurity, and how to gradually transition to a new normal.

AT&T, Learn Fresh Team Up to Teach Kids with NBA Math Hoops App – April 16, 2020

Learn Fresh’s NBA Math Hoops and AT&T are keeping kids inspired to learn and connected to the court at a time when COVID-19 is making it tough to do either. With a $250,000 contribution from AT&T, Learn Fresh is enhancing the NBA Math Hoops mobile app and expanding its ability to reach students in need of support around the globe. NBA Math Hoops is a comprehensive community program that allows students to learn fundamental math skills through the game of basketball. In addition to this contribution, the NBA will launch NBA Math Breaks Presented by AT&T, a social content series inspired by the NBA Math Hoops program. This AT&T-sponsored series will feature members of the NBA and WNBA family as they work through elementary and middle-school level math problems that incorporate the game of basketball.

AT&T Commits $1.2 Million to Small Businesses Focused on Distance Learning Solutions – April 14, 2020

As millions of students shift to distance learning because of COVID-19, small businesses focused on education are critical to ensuring that transition is successful. But small businesses are facing growing economic uncertainty. Nationwide, about 25% of them – those with fewer than 250 employees – are in “immediate risk”1 of closing. That’s 2 million small businesses, employing about 27.5 million Americans.

To support the critical work these companies do every day, AT&T is providing $1.2 million in contributions from our Distance Learning and Family Connections fund to 7 AT&T Aspire Accelerator alumni companies from across the country – BoddleCareerVillageCommonLitLiftEdListenWiseLitLab and TalkingPoints.

AT&T Bringing Families Together with Contribution to Caribu – March 24, 2020

To help keep families connected during this uncertain time, we’re proud to fund free access and unlimited use of Caribu through May 24. Caribu is a video-calling app that allows family members to read, draw, and play games with one another while in distant locations. With thousands of popular book titles and activities available, Caribu is both a learning and a social tool that can bring families closer together and battle the isolation many will face over coming weeks.

AT&T Creates $10 Million Fund to Support Parents, Teachers & Students Throughout COVID-19 School Closures – March 20, 2020

We created a Distance Learning and Family Connections Fund to give parents, students and teachers tools they need for at-home learning. The $10 million fund also will provide families resources to maintain meaningful connections and stay well while isolated from one another.

The first contribution from the Fund was $1 million to Khan Academy. This collaboration will improve and expand online learning resources to meet growing demand from parents, teachers and students, including those who rely on free resources and need Khan Academy the most. It will also support the development of new resources designed specifically for COVID-19 school closures.
